charcoal tablets

I was reading an article about how some choose to deal with elevation sickness and one article suggested charcoal tablets. I have used dramamine before on a deep sea fishing trip and can testify that it did the trick but I have no experience with high altitudes. I am reluctant to put foreign substances into my body but with the limited time I will have in Wyoming I do not want to waste a single minute not feeling up to hunting. Any thoughts from those of you who travel from far South to the North to hunt?

I believe I have heard or read the same thing also, can't remember where? Never tried it, doubt I will. But I believe they put a charcoal tablet in water and then drank the water with the flavor or taste remaining if I remember correct. AGAIN have not tested this myself. :-k

You may have better luck with diamox and drink plenty of orange juice but you might find that nothing works as well as dramamine does for the water-altitude can be a little tougher to fix

I take charcoal pills every year before I trek into the high country........when you live at 56 feet above sea level you need all the help you can get. It does work.........plenty of water is also key.

My best advice is to spend the first day/night at a lower elevation if possible. For example if you are in Colorado - spend a night in Denver getting acclimated to 5000 feet before making the push to high elevations. Start drinking extra water routinely about 2 weeks before your trip and dont stop till you are home..

Also alcohol wont help but blah, blah, blah.

And get in shape too!
