Anyone familiar with GMU 28 near Kelly Creek?
I'll be headed that way third season rifle and was hoping to receive some feedback from the experts.
I'm very familiar with GMU 80 and GMU 511; and have harvested some nice bulls in these areas. However, I've only hunted GMU 28 near Kelly Creek once in 2006 and only filled my buck tag, a very nice Muley, but no sightings of an Elk.

Can't help you with unit 28. I would, however, like to ask you about 511. I've been in there a few times and have an archery bull tag this year. Any recommendations on where to look in 511? I have a week left and really want to kill my first elk.
Thanks!
However, to share my old hot spot....head north of Divide into the burn area from the Hayden fire. I have taken quite a few bulls from the area during the rut in archery season, nothing to hang on the wall but quite a few 5x5 or small 6x6 bulls. Spend some time early in August to begin your scouting, learn the area, and then when the rut begins set up and call em in.
Sorry again for the late reply.
If you need more info, I can send approximate GPS coordinates for the area.
