Collared Deer? updated video

How many of you have seen a collared deer? In all my years of watching deer I've never seen one
until a couple of days ago and I actually saw 2 in the same evening. I was pretty surprised. (A doe and a fawn).

Guess I know where the DNR traps them now eh? lol

Here is the video I got of her, far right deer. Collar appeared to be brown leather and with the box attached and antenna.

Up here in Washington I see lots of collared Elk but never have seen a collared Deer.

I've never seen a big game animal with a collar in Utah. I've seen plenty of ear tags... but no collars.

My buddy took a nice 3 point down on the La Sals several years back. Pretty different looking. At least back then it was a thick leather collar with a decent size box attached and instructions to return it to the DWR.

There is a collared cow elk that has showed up here on the ranch for the past 3 years.
The bear I shot this year had a collar on it. I didn't know it had a collar until I pulled the hair back. It is legal to shoot collared animals, the CDOW just asks that you return the collar to the nearest DOW office.
I've yet to see a collared deer around here though.

my first spike elk had a collar on it but i have never seen a deer.

I have never seen a collared deer. I've seen a fair number of collared elk though.

I've only been to Beehive state a couple times huntin....and havn't seen one. Never seen one in SoCal either. they are probaly pretty rare though?

I have some video of the doe collared, I'll try and get it up soon. Bit surprised more folks haven't seen deer collared.

You'd think that with technology today they'd come up with something a little bit "sleeker" than a leather strap with a box & antenna on it.
That's some nice video there though.

I saw a couple of does with the same type of collar near Pilot's Peak this summer...It seems they could make them smaller.

In Nevada the units that deer usually migrate into during the winter months (along the California/Nevada border) its pretty common to see collared deer. We had a trail cam set up this year and got several collared deer and even more deer with ear tags. I also know that on a sheep release here in Nevada quite a few of the sheep that the NDOW captured and then release had collars put on them.

since collared doves are freebies to the bag limit, you would think they would do the same for deer. :)
