College World Series

Just curious if anyone else has been watching. I've watched all four games this weekend and pulling for LSU to add another title. All in all, the games thus far have been pretty good. No blowouts, most of them close throughout and a couple into extra innings.

Now time for a little bit of a rant. I am also pulling for Southern Miss which played Texas today in a great game...

except for the fact that the closer for USM walked in the tying run in the 8th inning (Texas ended up getting another run in the 8th to go ahead) and then, in the bottom of the 9th, with 2 outs, walked ANOTHER batter to load the bases and the WALKED in the winning run?!?

How in the heck can you do that?!? Yes, I know they are kids but throw the dang ball across the plate!!! You have eight teammates to help you out!!!

Southern Miss may not have won the game but they ended up giving it away. They gave Texas everything they could handle it it's just a shame for such a great game to end that way.

At least it is a double elimination tourny.

I've been watching it too, ABert. Yea, that sure hurt to watch that kid walk in those runs! You can't get them out by walking them. At the very least, just get the ball across the plate and let your defense do their thing!

I love the college world series though. Wouldn't miss it for the world.

Watching LSU vs Arkansas right now with LSU up 4 to 1 at the moment in the bottom of the fourth. Kind of surprised to see UVA send CSF home earlier today. Wished I could have watched that one!

LSU continues to pretty impressive after beating Arkansas 9-1 tonight. LSU has to have the best defense from what I've seen thus far, the offense is there in spurts, scoring multiple runs here and there, and the pitching is getting it done. They just might be able to get their sixth championship from what I've seen.

Really looking forward to watching USM tomorrow and hopefully they can get the win.

Man I love the CWS, but unfortunately I don't have ESPN. Thanks for the updates. I'm kind of pulling for Arizona State.

As for the walks, you can't win if you walk people, its frustrating to watch kids with that kind of talent to do that.

Southern Miss got manhandled today by UNC. Wasn't too fun to watch unless you are a North Carolina fan.

ASU opend up a can of whup butt on Texas early with six runs...

until Texas got those six runs back in one inning. Looked like it might turn out to be a good ball game until Texas got four more in another inning and ASU was done for.

Tomorrow's game is Arkansas against Virgina, Thursday is Arizona State against North Carolina. LSU and Texas are in the driver's seat in their respective brackets and will play the winner from the two aforementioned games in their brackets.

For those who didn't watch the Arkansas vs Virginia game tonight (I'm guess almost everyone on here for some reason lol ) you missed a HECK of a game!!!

Arkansas just kept scrapping and pulled it out in the top of the 13th. Truth be told, UVA should have won but their base running REALLY hurt them and now they are headed home. Next up for Arkansas is LSU on Friday.

Geaux Tigers!!!

ASU tore up UNC tonight! UNC got out to a 4-0 lead but that ended on a single swing that resulted in a grand slam. ASU kept going and UNC stalled.

So, Arkansas gets another chance at LSU tomorrow but will have to win two games against them to advance. ASU also gets another chance at Texas on Saturday but, again, will have to win to games to advance.

Texas and LSU are definitely in the driver's seat. If these two meet in the championship it will be interesting. Texas has proved to be a mighty good "small" ball club, whereas LSU is kind of leaning towards the '90s and the days of "gorilla" ball.

I'll still give the edge to LSU as noone has the defense and bats that they do and their pitching has been more than adequate up to now. Can't wait to watch more!

Well, it's the bottom of the 9th, LSU is up 14-2 over Arkansas. I think its safe for me to go outside and put the new belt on the mower now. Not a terribly exciting game after the 3rd inning or so as Arkansas was just completely manhandled.

Texas and Arizona State sometime this evening and the wife is already mad at me for watching so much baseball this last week or so.

And I've still got to get the chicken on the grill so we can eat dinner tonight lol

UT/ASU was a heck of a game and a somewhat unbelievable ending! Arizona went up 3-2 in the top of the 9th. Texas comes up and hits a homerun to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th and the very next batter hits a walkoff homerun to win the game.

Texas (3-0) will meet LSU (3-0) on Monday for the championship best of three series.

LSU goes up 1 game to none in a heck of a game!!! First time they've been behind since before the regionals, tie it up in the top of the 9th when down by two runs and pull it out in the 11th.

Matty Ott, the closer for LSU, was amazing :not-worthy

And Texas, the best "short ball" team in the nation, rips off 5 homeruns!!!

Thanks for the updates ABert. I'm going to have to find a way to watch the rest.

Texas evened up the series tonight winning 5-1 on outstanding pitching by a young man by the name of Taylor Jungmann. Shut down the LSU offense allowing only one run and pitching a complete game.

LSU came out a bit sloppy and committed their first error in the CWS. Their starting pitcher was less than desirable, unless you are a Texas fan. The bats were completely dumbfounded by the best pitching I've seen thus far. The bullpen for LSU was pretty good and there will be one defensive play on the Top 10 for Sports Center.

Final game for all the marbles tomorrow. You better believe I'll be watching!

GEAUX TIGERS!!!

LSU wins their sixth national championship beating Texas 11-4!!!

LSU opened in the first with a 3 run homer in the 1st and things looked good from the start. Texas came back to tie the game in the 4th at 4-4 but LSU broke it open in the top of the sixth with 5 runs and Texas couldn't keep up.

Hats off to both coaches for putting in a few seniors that didn't start the game, a great show of sportsmanship from both sides.

It may not have been the prettiest of games, but being as I am a Tigers fan I am not complaining.
