I am going to Colorado this year to hunt mule deer in Area 44. I will be hunting during the muzzleloader season which begins on Sept. 8th. Have any of the other members hunted this unit during this season. I have a friend who lives in Denver who has been scouting the unit during Aug. He has seen several nice bucks but no real monsters. Mostly 150-160 B.C. class. I would like to at least have a chance at something a little larger maybe a 170B.C.+ class. Any help would be appreciated as far as what to expect as far as pressure and overall deer numbers. Also are there very many bears in this unit (my friend is hunting them also).

I know that unit 44 is a great late season unit and produces some very nice muleys. I'm not sure about the early seasons.
Have fun and let us know how you do.
