Hi, I'm looking at a DIY september hunt in either GMU 14 or 47. I know its high country and that it only takes 1 point to draw for nonresidents historically. im just wondering a little more about the terrain. Whether its alot of timber or more open? And also about the herd during that time of year. I'm only asking because i wont have time to scout next year due to my deployment to Afghanistan. any tips or help would be very greatly appreciated. feel free to PM me. Thanks.

There is a fairly lot of open spaces but to get to the biggest bucks you will have to go through deep timber(go figure). Hunted there once with no success, but did see a couple of nice deer. Unfortunately couldn't get within 40 yards for a bow shot. Bottom line: Good place, Good Herd, open patches but mainly timber. Hope this has helped ::wel
