Colorado Units 6, 161, 16, 17, 171

Went ahead and applied for the Muzzleloader permit. I probably don't have a chance in heck of drawing the Buck permit, but am hoping maybe I can draw the doe permit I listed as second choice. If not it will add a preference point anyway.

I know there is some public land in these units, but does anyone know much about the antelope in these areas?

I've never hunted them, so just getting out for the one weekend looking for them would be great. Killing my first would be a tremendous bonus. If I luck into drawing the doe permit, I'll not only have to find the antelope, but I'll have to buy a muzzleloader.

Those units are rated pretty high and should hold some nice bucks. I hope you draw a MZ tag.

I drew an S32 Ewe tag. No preference points to lose, so I applied for ewe as first choice. As first choice, a ewe tag is not that difficult to draw. I drew the Oct. 2 - 11 rifle season, but will hunt with bow.

well thats still cool, but would have been cooler to get a ram. how many points does it take to get a ram tag??

Many Colorado residents have 3PP plus 6 weighted preference points and still haven't drawn a ram tag. I would guess that the average resident has to wait 8-10 years before drawing but some people have never drawn a tag and they've been putting in for 15+ years.

Drew the antelope doe tag for these units. Anyone got any advice/pointers on this area or hunting antelope during this time of year with muzzleloader. I've never hunted antelope before, but would really like to have a good chance at filling the doe tag.

I've heard some say they would rather stay at home during this time, but I"m not much for sitting on the couch.

hobbes, There's a lot of public land in those units. You shouldn't have to hard of a time finding some speedgoats. Get a Walden BLM map.
