Anyone ever fish for Elk?? Apparently this guy was found dead floating down the river, how does this happen?

WOw. Not sure how this one happened but I have a similar story. I live on the banks of the Snake and a few years back we had a bull elk wander into town. The game department and local law didn't like the idea of a bull elk wandering the streets of Clarkston and attempted to dart the elk and haul him back up to the Blue Mountains. Well, depending on who you talk to, they either darted it and it ran into the river before "passing out" or they darted it AFTER it entered the water. Either way, they could not retrieve the bull once it was out cold in the water and he drown before he could be recovered.

well they do swim, maybe his ticker ran out while swimming. we almost hit a white tale in the middle of the mississipi we thought it was a branch and pullew the boat up to grab it and sure enough a deer. i have always wanted to bring in an elk on a fly rod, just my personal dream though. hehe
