Confiscating guns in the U.S.

Interesting video to say the least.

Not to rain on your post but this is old news and it has been ruled in the courts that NOPD exceeded their authority. Eddie Compass, the sheriff then, is no longer in employ, along with a number of other folks that were directly involved in the decision to confiscate weapons from the citizens of New Orleans immediately after Katrina. I live in Gulfport, MS and there was never any of the trouble with the looting and whatnot here. Another thing to keep in mind is that LEO's were being shot at on site from all over the city. I don't believe that taking the weapons from the citizens was the correct path to follow by a long stretch. Can't say what I would have done if there had been a knock on my door. I can't blame the individual LEO's carrying out the orders of their supervisors. Here on the MS gulfcoast we tended to help our neighbors out rather than take advantage of a bad situation.

Old news or not it is CRAP. To take ones means of defense for himself his family and personal property during an emergency time when people need to protect themselves.

Criminals with the the guns are ones to be feared not law aboding citizens who legally own and responsibly use firearms.

LEO's were being attacked by criminals not Law fearing citizens.

This post was started to show what can happen and very well may happen again in this Country we need laws againist criminals using or having guns not the people who lawfully own them and use them.

This is not something to just be called old news and be forgotten peoples rights were taken away.

After what happened to those responsible for taking the guns away from the law abiding citizens I don't think this will happen again, at least not any time in the near future. There were serious charges filed against those responsible and they have paid the price.

Though I believe in most of what the NRA stands for, they are as guilty as any other special interest group out there in sensationalizing something that will sway others to their side. This video is a perfect example of that.

There are already plenty of laws on the books to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Problem is that some politicians want to pass laws to take guns out of the hand of all Americans, thinking this will solve the problem of criminals having guns. Enforce the laws already on the books. We don't need any more laws than we already have.

There was a bit more that went on that the general public doesn't know about in the whole matter of the LEO's being fired upon. Knee jerk reaction caused the confiscation of all guns in the city limits but other, more effective measures were taken that were never released to the public, for good reasons.
