Couple of nice Chicks

What kind of quail is that?! It looks like someone took parts of a Gambel's with parts of a Scaled. Is it a cross breed, or is it a Valley quail, which I know looks a lot like a Gambel's but a little different.

I know very little about birds, I just started shooting critters with my camera about a two years ago, and sadly never paid much attention to the small animals of the world. But I am trying to learn more as I capture them behind a lens. so if anyone knows for sure I would like to know.
