Cow elk hunt with pic's

Here are some pictures of my son and I's cow elk hunt it is his first big game animal he has taken. We worked hard for his cow not a drive up and shoot it deal, 7 days of hard hunting and we got in the elk the last three days. He finally got close enough on our last day with two hours left before I called it.Pictures below. This is what I saw the last trip down with a very heavy pack.

Looks like a great time. Having a tough hunt and tagging out on the last day always makes for a greater sense of accomplishment. I bet your son is hooked for life.

Yea I think I got him hooked now. He wants to go duck hunting this Sat. never mind the mound of dirty camping gear we brought back from Utah. He also wanted to know what big game animals we could hunt here in California and hogs came up. So we are going to look into that after duck season.

congrats to him on a great job and getting hooked, congrats to you for being a great dad and taking time and taking your kid hunting! as great as it is now, later in life he will remember these times you spent with him even more. very cool IMO!! :thumb

Grat job on the cow hunt! I'm still hoping for another chance to get up on Dutton befor the end of the season! Ive seen a few cows but cuoldn't close the gap quick enough, and I've seen some impressive bulls along my hikes, but I have come up short for now! got any suggestions? This last storm hopefully pushes them down for Christmas weekend!
