This story hits a little close to home. A guy I work with drew a tag for the monroe archery in 2008. He was hunting in the camp next to mossback and crew as they were out after the spider bull. My friend shot an awesome 7x7 bull. He said that Doyle Moss came running into his camp site as he pulled up with his bull. Apparently Doyle was worried that my friend had got to spidy first. Doyle green scored my buddies bull at 376. Pretty good number with a bow. Definitely a P&Y bull. My friend had never met Doyle but said he was real personable. You sure hear a lot of crap about him. I've never met him so my verdict is still out there. Anyway back to the story. Custom Taxidermy was doing the mount for my friend. The cape tanning was completed last week and my friend had just taken the antlers in last week for final mounting. What a bum deal. There is little chance that there will be anything salvagable due to the severity of the fire. [-o< Apparently the roof caved in. To make matters worse, the P&Y scorer had cancelled two different appointments to final score the bull. #-o My friend will not get to have the mount or the spot in the books. He'll have to settle for the hunting memories. Memories are great, but this sure is a bum deal. Incidently he said there were five trophy mounts in the drying stage when he took his antlers in. I sure hope that none of those mounts belong to any of you, but they did belong to some discouraged hunters.

P.S. No pun intended by posting this in campfire talk.

Here's Bill, packing out the head and antlers.
I was talking to Bill about the fire again. He said that there was a full size bear mount on an awesome floor pedestal that a member of SCI lost in ht e fire. There was also a big horn sheep that had just been completed. The guy who took the ram had paid $40,000 for the tag in an auction. No trophy mount and out 40K would suck.
I wouldn't mind too bad though, because that would mean I have 40k to spend on hunting lol
