Nice, I have enjoyed being in the program. For those that can get there hours done it is a pretty good deal.

I didn't renew or put in for the draw this year, was a tough call but the increase in hours just wasn't worth it to me. Although I do enjoy the program and think for the most part it's a good thing. Might give it a go again next year?

360.00 for two deer each It's great hunting for those of us that likes to get out more often but do the math 360.00 plus 20.00 per hour to buy out the hours for 40 hours = 800.00 x by two is 1,600.00 that is total 1,960.00 for both of you, you can buy a Montana Combo Deer & Elk for 640.00 each thats 1,280 for the same amount of animals does'nt seam to be a great deal when you can hunt 5 weeks in Montana.

2009 was my last year. I started in 04, and I liked the program until 09 when they changed the archery from state wide. I signed up for 3 years with state wide archery. I think it's B.S. they can change the program after you sign up. I know this years back to state wide, but what about next year, and the year after that. Who knows, plus 40 hours, I'm out.

If you look at it that way it looks like crap. But if you look at it like 360.00 for 3 years worth of tags and a guarantee that you hunt where you want and for the next 3 years you get tags for all the seasons. With I might add no chance of not drawing an archery tag (you will find this year they will all be drawn and will not go on sale). I feel it’s a bargain...

Someone would have to be an idiot to buy out all 40 hours and then complain how expensive it is. The point of doing the hours is either to help out the wildlife in this state or help with underfunded projects the DWR has. It should be a privilege to help out the DWR, not a curse. :-k I know of dozens of people around me that do hundreds of hours of service each year with nothing expected in return. It makes them feel good to help others in need.

I have to agree with ridgetop. It seems like an awsome program from what I understand. Everyone complains about the numbers or quality of deer in their state well what better way to may difference than to volunteer your time to make a difference. It's nothing new that the state agencies are under funded so I think every state should have a program like this.

Thanks Ridge for your insight. right on target as usual.
I am looking forward to doing my hours. talking with fellow hunters and working together... there really is nothing better. you can tell a lot about the quality of a person by working next to them.
