Deep Creek or Wasatch

I'm looking at applying for a muzzleloader elk tag in either West Desert, Deep Creek or Wasatch Mountains Units. I'd like to have the rest of the hunting party get general deer tags for the Central or Northeastern Regions (we have preference points so drawing won't be an issue). I was just wondering if anyone knows what the deer herd is like out in the West Desert area (compared to the Wasatch area - Strawberry or Currant Creek areas specifically)?

Are you looking for info on the deer herd, or the elk herd?

BTW...if you have a Central deer tag you won't be able to hunt anything north of highway 40 ie Currant Creek, Trout Creek, Co Op. That is boundary for the NE and Central units.

I made a couple corrections/clarifications to my original post.
I just realized the areas I mentioned for Wasatch Unit elk are in the Northeastern Region for general deer (thanks dahlmer).
I'm after info on the deer herd in the West Desert, Deep Creek area.

Current Creek deer herd has been and continues to be in decline. In my opinion due to late doe hunts. They can be found but are generally few and far between. If I were hunting the Wasatch I would probably go for the Central deer tag. More of the Wasatch Unit overlaps the Central region than the NE. Don't know anything about the West Desert deer herd. Good luck.
