This guy probably should have paid a little more attention during his hunters safety course. He's lucky to be alive.

SEDALIA, Mo. - A hunter bagged a big buck on the second day of firearms season, but the kill caused him a lot of pain. Randy Goodman, 49, said he thought two well-placed shots with his .270-caliber rifle had killed the buck on Nov. 19. Goodman said the deer looked dead to him, but seconds later the nine-point, 240-pound animal came to life.
The buck rose up, knocked Goodman down and attacked him with his antlers in what the veteran hunter called "15 seconds of hell." The deer ran a short distance and went down, and died after Goodman fired two more shots.
Soon Goodman started feeling dizzy and noticed his vest was soaked in blood.
So he reached his truck and drove to a hospital, where he received seven staples in his scalp and was treated for a slight concussion and bruises.

Guess we are all lucky this doesn't happen more often than not.
So hears the embarrassing part. That experience has been ever present in my mind each time I approach a downed animal. I have a hard time assuring myself that each animal is dead. A few years back I couldn't make it to deer camp until the second day of the hunt. On my way in several bucks passed infront of my truck. I got out an hit one a ways up the mountain above camp. The buck dropped in an opening visible from camp. As I approached the buck it lay in a foot of fresh snow. No rocks. But hey a snowball will work right. If one is good then four or five direct snow ball hits would be better right? Not when your camping buddies are watching you through spotting scopes and binos. When I got to camp they asked if I expected the deer to return fire. lol
So I'm known as the guy that throws rocks and snowballs at dead deer. At least I haven't had to go get staples at the hospital after a mauling.
