Deer Populations

I have a sneaking hunch we will see a lot of fawn recruits; does with twins and maybe a fair share of triplets. But the caveat is as it has been for a while now: Will the fawns make it through the first year? Until we figure out why so many are not reaching that point, we will continue on an even or slightly downward keel. But I try to be optimistic as much as I can! :thumb [-o<

Probably a little better than last year, but no snow means more human interaction with deer. I've seen deer being pushed around by shed hunters. So maybe the fawn population will increase, and maybe not. Antler growth should be better though.

I think it will be better than last... [-o< . I think it'll need to be a wet spring & early summer to keep the feed nice & green. If we drop back into the drought it could all be for naught.
Here's some pics of a bunch of deer I watched while on a Boy Scout overnighter from the safety of the campground. They all looked to be in very good shape. All the deer were 1000+ yards away up in the top of the canyon across from campground.

I think it will be a good year, bu like derek stated we need some moisture.

Coyotes should be happy. I'll be doing my part to kill every coyote I see.
