Disposal of old ammo?

So I was going through my hunting stuff the other day and ran accross this box of bullets. I bought them about 4 years ago and put them in the diamond plated steel toolbox that was in the back of my truck at the time. They worked their way to the bottom and were out of sight and out of mind. Well the toolbox leaked and everything got soaked, and with the bullets being on the bottom... yeah you get the picture.
So now what do I do with them? I'm tired of looking at them every year when I go through my hunting stuff. I don't want to shoot them because I just dont trust them, and i dont want to put them in the garbage because i'm sure it's a lot like pouring used motor oil down the sewer drain and i dont want to cause any problems. So what do I do with them? If it's just a cosmetic issue then i'm sure they can be cleaned and fired, but i dont care to take the chance.

If you want to do it your self, get a bullet puller (RCBS make a good one) pull the bullet, the powder will come out also, you can save the bullet for your buddies that reload, either burn the powder (place the powder in a cookie sheet and light it—it will flame up) or soak it with WD-40 then it is safe to though away, for the case spay WD-40 inside the case this will kill the primer, now you can throw the brass away.

Or, you could just toss them in the front of your house and call your local PD and say you found them. They'll send out EOD, cordon off the neighborhood and remove said rounds at a very high cost to the taxpayers. NOT the recommend procedure. :))
Thanks M. Bird. I think i'm gonna get me a bullet puller, i need to start collecting reloading tools anyways.
