DIY Hunt

As the new year begins, I now have the opportunity to sit down and think about getting to go out west to hunt again. I hope to go this year, but it may have to be 2012. What would be the best State to look at doing a DIY hunt? Colorado, Wyoming, Utah? I know some maybe tough to get a tag, but assume that I can, where should i look?

What weapon and what time of year? What type of terrain are you comfortable hunting as well? As a general thought I would say your best bet is Colorado, then wyoming, then Utah but it all depends on what your looking for.

I would consider myself in very good shape and i have hunted in some steep country. I hunt with a pistol, so I will be looking for an early rifle season. From what i have researched so far, i am thinking the same. I have 4 points so far for Utah, but i would think that won't get me a tag yet???
