Do you use a rangefinder when hunting?

Does it make you take questionable shots at longer yardages?

MINE ALWAYS MAKES THE TRIP AND GETS USED ?? 60 % OF THE TIME. A LOT OF TIMES IT'S DECEIVING ON THE DISTANCE YOU MIGHT THINK ITS TO FAR THE YOU RANGE IT AND ITS A LOT CLOSER THAN YOU THINK OR VISA/VERSA

Since my rangefinder is also my pair of binoculars (Leica BRF), I ALWAYS have them around my neck......

They've actually confirmed for me several times that it was an ethical shot, as I estimated the yardage farther than it was. I still have my personal comfortable shooting distance.......no matter what the rangefinder says.

Yes, If I set up on the ground or treestand I range find everything around me in advance so I have known distances everywhere. For spot and stalk when you are in the heat of the chase it is easy to misjudge distance and a quick little look through the range finder can mean the difference in success.

I am due for a new one my current RF is horizontal platform and I like the vertical bodies better I think they work better for one handed operation.

Always use the rangefinder. I never take shots outside of my comfort zone.

A rangefinder just tells me how far (or how close) an animal is. If it's within the zone, I take the shot. If not, I get closer.

I would go crazy without my nikon range finder with me in the hills. all of those dang trees deceive the heck out of my internal rangefinder

I always take my RF hunting and now I have started taking it scouting. As we are hiking we will challenge each other on the distance to a rock/stump or deer. My experience has been that you don't always get the chance to range every shot so it's get to tune in the internal range finder.

Had to vote "no" as I have yet to get a range finder. But...I am in the process of narrowing down a few choices and will be getting one in the very near future. Of course, it won't do me any good this year but I'll let my brother break it in and let me know how it goes.

There have been a couple of shots that I thought were in range, only to find out afterwards that they were way out of range. That is what convinced me to get one. The old eyes just aren't calibrated they way they used to be.
