Duck Hunt Success 12/28/06

Had some fun yesterday with my dad, we drove quite a ways to find some ducks and only found a flock of 12 mallards (6 drakes, 6 hens)
We really love to hunt them on rivers and sneak in on them. Never done the decoy/marsh hunting.
I love a good ole belly crawl on the river. TONS of fun, I tried to get some pics of them on the river before we made the stalk, but no luck.
To make a longer story short, we sneaked in on where we thought they were and walla, they where gone. I finally leaned out close enough to the river and could see one drake on a bend downstream, so they had moved downstream.
Problem is they where impossible to get to where they were, so the debate was on with only 15 minutes left of shooting light.
We quickly snuck up on a high ridge point above them and could see they where moving slowly back upstream to where we just left from.
Good news. :)
We descended back to our original spot at 4:53 PM, shooting ends in 10 minutes, we belly crawl towards the river behind a big cottonwood branch that had fallen along the shore. I lift my head up and can see one directly out if front of us in perfect position.
We motion to each other to slow raise and take some off the water if possible, well we didn't get them on the water but up they came in perfect position. Our 6 shots where gone in an instant. :)
We made out with 3 ducks, 2 drakes and a hen. We aren't sure who hit them, but we don't care and had a blast.
Oh and BTW, this was the easiest belly crawl I've ever had as we where on a sand bank next to the river, nice and soft. :)
Here are some pictures of them.

It's tough to beat red legs and full curls. We're going out tomorrow and I hope to post some pics myself.
Congrats on the ducks!
