Dutton Late Cow Tag

Anyone familiar with this hunt?

http://wildlife.utah.gov/HAM/public/details_boundary.php?boundary_id=125

I have a Dutton Late Cow tag 12/4/10 - 1/31/10

I know the access is limited and success low, but want some Elk meat in the Freezer. Anyone hunted this before? Any pointers/help would be appreciated.

This time of year the majority of cows usually hang out in Cottonwood to the south and Table Mountain to the north. If there is little snow, they will stay high.

This is the cow tag I usually have, stay high on the ridge tops.
PM me if you haven't got one yet and I will give you a couple of spots we usually see cows.

Cotton woods, Deer creek, or deep creek. Not sure how much snow is up there but spend time glassing them canyons your bound to find a cow. Also off the west side i hear bull rush tend to hold elk in the winter time.

Gave it a run for my money and came up empty handed. That is a tough hunt for sure.

Tried Deer Creek, Cottonwood, Prospect, etc. Got stuck on the left fork of Cottonwood in the snow, just ice underneath the snow. Was about 12-14" up there. To much snow up West Hunt also, couldn't get up. Covered a lot of miles and saw a group of 3 bulls was all. Talked to Cougar hunter who said he saw some up Prospect the day before we were there (Monday). Few hunters up in there and there were tracks.

Best of luck.

Had some relatives tag out a couple weeks ago up Deep Creek 4 out of 4 tags filled.

Saw 18 deer, 3 bull Elk and hundreds of Antelope.
