elk behavior

the bulls were going crazy before the snow fell here in utah, but have not heard any since. what are all your thoughts on this?

That's it's to darn cold and snowy for September. :)

Anytime the snow drops in, it 'holes' them up and bit and changes their behavior and patterns. Just like humans I suppose.

thats kinda of what i was thinking. another theory i think might be that the cows that were in heat were bred and we are just between the cycles, waiting for them to come around again. what do you guys think?

You can bet they are still rutting, just might be nocturnal for a while and most of the cows are bred by now and like you said some cows are in between cycles. I've seen elk here in Colorado continue to rut through the middle of October.
