Elk Farm pics!

Okay I was out after big buck pictures, no luck...so I stopped by this small Elk farm on my way home (never been to one before).

It was cool, dumb, and weird. Cool because I was standing next to some huge elk. Dumb and weird because it was like feeding a cow or dog??

I actually grabbed their horns through the fence a bit and tried to "rough em up" to get em wild. :)

They are fun to look at but anyone who has hunted elk know that they are not ment to be in capture. Its just my opinion but I think its cruel.

I second that. It's not right.

I agree. They have north of my place in Coeur d' Alene Idaho. I've stopped by before and they are pretty cool to look at but a large part of me feels rather sorry for them. I would much rather see them runnin' wild where they should be.

Thanks for the pics Brett.

those elk are just to beautiful to be penned up like that . they should be out loose in the free mountain range .

When I lived in colorado their was an elk farm not far from where we lived but you couldnt see it from the road. I would always pull over their at night if someone was with me and let out a bugle. Boy those bulls would start screemin. I never would tell anyone that the elk farm was their and they always thought I had the best elk hunting spot. They are a lot of fun to see. But a lot more fun in the wild.

Better be careful!

A tourist did the same thing to one of the bison on that same farm. It tore into them like nobody's business. It was a slow trip to the ER for them.

My kids love to stop a see the elk on the way up to our property on East Zion, but it makes my skin crawl to see them penned up that way.

My brother and my dad stopped to feed the elk in the elk farm quite a few years ago and one of the bulls actually charged the fence. Luckily my brother got his hands out of the fence ot it could have been very bad.

Jeff welcome to the forum.

Just so you know you can not post a photo directly from your computer using the img tags. You will need to either post them from a online web site (photobucket) or to attache them using this forums attachment option you see at the bottom of the reply page.

These are pics from a Ranch a kid I went to School with owns.
Two years ago I went down to try Video a couple Bulls taken off the Ranch.
I never got to see the Big Bull taken but I did see his son take a 404.
This Bull was just standing off the road the evening I showed up, so I just rolled down my window a got a pic before he ran off.

This Bull was not the Big Bull the Hunter was after.

Cvrn, after lookin' at your various posts and insight to other folk's posts, I don't see where anyone could accuse ya of being an advocate for high fenced hunts.

Nice lookin' pics none-the-less.

I went down to Belle Chase LA in the Aftermath of Katrina to help with recovery. We got there when the water was still pretty high and on the highway going to Port Sulfer there was an Elk farm. What a shock to see these huge bulls in Souther LA. First time I ever saw an Elk Farm.
