Was this a high fenced hunt?

that elk looks like a cross breed... small nose and lighter fur coloration.

That "elk"is one of those elk x stag highbreds, the high fence ranchers cross breed them to get the big non typical antlers you see in the SCI books.I wouldnt give ya $5 to shot a penned elk.Posting pics of high fence hunts here isnt going to make you very popular. :222

so let me get this straight all of you guys dont have farm lands and plant

a food plot or ask permission to hunt a hay field the ony thing that i did

different is that it had a fence and i didnt kill it in a pen it was 100 acres

with a fence around it.

i know now not to post anything on here

Muley Crazy 1, High Fence hunting is not popular among most of us that hunt the west. IMO, I don't care how you hunt or what you hunt, as long as it's legal. Personally I hunt public land as do most of us on Muley Madness and our public lands in the west very rarely have food plots, so we as a rule don't hunt them. Please feel free to post away, and don't take it personal that the guys gave you their opinions, as you asked them. Just keep in mind when you mention high fence hunting, you're more than likely going to get negative feedback. Stick around and trust me on this one, there's a great group of folks on MuleyMadness.

That's what I said - I can tell it is not a rocky mountain, tule or rosie... it does not look like one. I am not going to judge people hunt fenced ranches for different reasons.

Our winter feed lot is 120 acres,i can see all four corners of the pasture from the ground,100 acres is small even by canned hunt standards.I relize you are young and this "hunt" was aranged for you, once you have more experience hunting in the great hunting state you live in Im sure you will begin to see where we are coming from.Next time your Dad wants to drop 1200 on a hunt you two head on up to Montana and Ill show you where you can do a self guided muley hunt on thousands of acres of public land for the cost of your tag and a couple tanks of gas,for the same amount of money spent on your canned hunt you can have a week long hunt in some of the most beatiful, rugged parts of Montana, even if you dont take home a big one the experience is invaluable. :222

hey do me a favor and just can it you can say what ever you want and

you must not have hay fields or food plots and get elk and mulies to

come feed and you wait and shoot em.

Listen here Buddy,I hunt national forest, blm, state land and the rocky mountian front,I dont hunt from a stand or a blind,i SPOT AND STALK.Even if i was hunting over a hay field there is no comparison to shooting a hand raised hybrid elk in a fenced enclosure, your "elk" had 0 chance of escaping you the mighty hunter, any guy sitting over a hay field is hunting game that has a CHOICE of where it wants to go.I have NEVER baited any game,in my state its illegal,as is pen hunting livestock as you did in KS.Just keep shooting livestock,I think its probably best for you. :222

I saw your offer there NONYA and I actually got a bit jealous of the youngester!! Mighty kind of ya.

I guess some folks don't take kindly to such generous offers.

Id do what i can to help any of the guys here plan a good hunt.I know some land owners up by the CMR who have their land in block managment,it would be a great place for a guy to hunt here in MT.There is a ton of private and public land up around Jordan that holds great deer, its top no\tch for MT.We dont have canned elk/deer hunts here in MT,im sure hes not interested.

might be time to lock another thread :1 :)) [ but that was an awful nice offer NONYA =D> ]

Its fun to get into debates like this, ashame he had to take it there with the PM. Oh well, I am willing to bet he does not know what 100 acres looks like because with the right set of binculars to you could shoot almost any piece of 100 acres from the same spot so I guess we are glad he did not get killed in the process since between the elk/stag hybrids running around and several hunters shooting it sounds worse than opening day on public lands near the roads on certian parts of CO public lands. To each their own,. hope he got the monster shoulder mounted.
