favorite make and model???

I know this is a big question, but here goes.

What's everybody's favorite make and model (not calibre) for deer and elk. I would have done a poll but there are to many to list.

I just got a brand new 7mm Mag Ruger that I love!! But I'll always have a special place in my heart for my first hard earned rifle. A 270 model 70 Winchester Bolt action, stainless steel barrel, featherweight!! [-o<

Remington 700. 270 Winchester, of course. Mine has a custom (give me a sander and I'll "customize" anything) Brown Precision stock. Right now it has a Sightron 2.5-10 scope. Ready to shoot it weighs just under 7 pounds. It will put 3 Barnes 130 gr. TSXs in the same hole when I'm up to it.

Why not caliber model and make have very little to do with anything compared to the caliber of the rifle.

Marlin 1895.
Chambered: 45-70 Govt.
Bullet: Nosler Partition
Bullet weight: 300 grains
Powder: H4198
Charge weight: 55 grains

This is, by far, the gun I have the most fun with.

That's what I'm talking about TuPapito!

Hands down my favorite rifle is my Winchester Model 94 in .32 Winchester Special. I use it as my timber rifle.

All around hunting terrain would be a Remington 700 in .270

That is one tuff question. I'm guessing that you mean what we have now? If not I don't think I could answer.

From what I have now it my Model 70 featherweight w/ 1-4 Redfield in 6.5x55.

what kind of recoil pad is that on your 700?

Thats a limbsaver pad,I used them to build my custom adjustable stocks because they come on a solid backing that I can use as my base plate to run my hex head adjustment bolts through. They are great pads i can and have shot this 7mag allll day without bruising or sore shoulder.I also canter the recoil pad a few degrees so the rifle sits straight and comfortable with my rifle hold. The center bolt threads out to adjust length and the top bolt threads in to secure the pad in place.

I really like my ruger M77, laminate stock, stainless steel hardware, 30-06. Both the gun and the caliber are made to last.

I just purchased a XCR stock for my 700 BDL in .270. I think this is my new favorite. My favorite gun has been a Savage .30-06 110, it has a synthetic stock and VX-III. It is an awesome shooter.

I have a weatherby mark V accumark and love it. It is a little on the heavy side but has very little recoil for a 7mm mag.

I have a Remington 1917 30-06. Sporterized with a Redfield scope. Not very pretty, heavy and needs a trigger job. But its tough, reliable and pushing 100 yrs old still prints 1-1/4" groups at 100yds.

Ruger M77 Mark II. But I'm looking for a new stock and a magazine for my Winchester Model 88 .308 then I'll probably switch over to it.
