Filmore oakcreek south unit archery elk

I've never hunted it but congrats on the tag! Do you have T-cams set there or have you scouted it out at all yet?

Well I have scouted there twice.. And I have talked to just about everyone I needed to to get on private property.. And talked to the biologist.. And have seen plenty of of sign near waterholes.. I just cant find anyone that has hunted there.. But I am going to keep the tag cause I am totally confident on getting a bull coming into water.. So again if anyone has hunted there, just wanted to get as much info as I can..

MY BUDDY BOUGHT THAT TAG 2 YEARS AGO AND AND ANOTHER DREW IT LAST YEAR I WOULD DO WHAT THE LAST GUY SAID TURN THAT THING BACK. IT BURNED FEW YEARS AGO ON PART OF THE UNIT. BUT WE FLEW IT AND WE SCOUTED HARD BOTH GUYS WERE UNSUCC THERE WERE GOOD DEER BUT THE QUALITY OF THE BULLS ARE BAD NOT MANY TO CHOOSE FROM THE ONLY GOOD THING U HAVE IS IT BORDERS THE BEST ELK UNIT IN THE STATE. ANY WAY GOOD LUCK

Honestly if you don't burn more than 2 pts. on the unit it's not that bad. I know of a 385" bull that was killed last year and another guy who missed a 360+ on the archery hunt. I have the archery tag this year and have personally seen 70+ elk so far with scouting and trail cameras. Whether or not I'll get a big bull is a good question but there's definitely a good chance. Yes there are a lot of smaller raghorn 4's and 5's but I'd say there's a handful of 300's or better. Not the quality most "Utah" guys would expect from a limited entry unit but enough to fill your tag and have a freezer full of meat.

all that matters is that you want to hunt that area. With you choose that you would when you put it as your LE choice. I would say that have fun, glass, and scout hard. You can be successful! Any LE unit in the state has a chance at being great!
