Finally Got My Mount.

I got my Archery Caribou back today, from last years hunt in the N.W.T.

Pretty pleased with the work:-)

The guy that did it was out of Canada, not sure of his last name but his name is Joey and his place is JB Taxidermy. We had four head mounts done out of five of us and they all turned out awesome!

Great looking animal. What did you do to keep the velvet in tact and from rotting away? Did you inject with formaldahyde (SP)???

I always see these great caribou killed in the velvet, but it seems that most people strip it before they head home.

The Taxidermist was in camp the whole time, so injected them as they needed it. I think he did a outstanding job caring for the antlers in camp and also the way he shipped them to us.

Yes, caribou grow that white neck when the rut comes, kind of like ducks get their colorful breeding plumage (or elk growing a thicker beard).
