First archery kill

This is my 2005 antelope buck,my very first big game archery kill.I recently took up archery hunting after the state of Monatana started a disabled modified archery permit program that allows disabled hunters to use devices like the draw loc.I bought a mt archery antelope tag and spent 23 days in the field before I connected with this buck at 55 yards,he will make the P&Y min and is my first archery trophy,I took a muley doe and a cow elk with the bow this same year.

Congratulations on a great buck and it sounds like you worked extremely hard for him! 23 days, our seasons are only half that long! It sounds like it was a well deserved trophy!

You mention that "he will make the P&Y minimum". Does that mean that you plan to try to enter him to P&Y?

Thanx Stick,No,i measured him because i was told by a couple guys that he was P&Y and i was really suprised that thier Min was so much lower than B&C and wanted to see if they were right,if i killed a real monster with a bow then i would want to enter him into the book,i have killed bigger goats with a rifle and never killed a B&C buck, this year however....

Nonya,

Just to let you know in case you are not aware, it would need to make B&C for you to enter it into a book. Trophies taken with a draw loc are not eligible for entry to P&Y, even if you are handicapped, however I believe it would be fine for B&C.

What a wonderful organization,a guy with only one good arm kills an antelope with a bow equiped with a device authorized by the MT F&G for handicapped hunters isnt good enough for thier book?Thats the kind of attitude that makes organizations like P&Y complete BS in my book. When P&Y was started there wernt even compound bows, and now that there is a new device to help handicapped hunters they look down on it?How is my draw loc any different than a normal hunter with a mechanical release?Bunch of hypocrites. :>/ Why dont you try killing a lope with my setup and an arm like mine and tell me there is some advantage,i cant even support the weight of the bow with my left arm,i hold the weight of my left arm and the bow with my right, try that.

i think all respectable organizations need a set of rules or they would make no sense at all, i think it is great how you overcome your lack of one arm[ basically, for lack of a better fraze, no harm intended] and using a draw lok is a great tool to help you. but i think you could also see how others would take advantage of it. i really like the P&Y club for their rules like, no high fence hunting, and no crossbows. But at some point their needs to be a set of guidelines to make the book.
On the other hand i think if someone bases a trophy strickly on if it makes the book, then we are missing the big picture of hunting.
Lastly, great buck you have there, congrates on a fine bow kill!!

Its just as lame as SCI letting pen raised ,canned hunt animals ito thier books, fair chase is required by P&Y AND B&C but my mecahanical release that allows me to shoot a bow excludes me from thier rank,F em! :222
