First Lightning Pic

So I was out playing with my camera tonight trying to get a cool sunset picture. I noticed a lightning bolt WAY off in the distance and set off to capture one. I've always wanted to get one. I finally did, Of course after getting one on film I spent the next 30 mintues trying to get more! It was great fun though.

Neat. How long an exposure did you need for that? I heard that you set the camera on a tripod, shut down the aperature and set the speed on timed exp?

Yeah, thats pretty much it. I tried several different methods. Tripod is a must, low aperature and 20 - 30 seconds timed shutter speed.

I also set the camera to BULB, which keeps the shutter open until you release the button. This way I could just open up the shutter wait for a flash and then release it. I'll definitely be doing some more testing when more thunderstorms come through.[/i]
