First Time in Colorado

Just found this site, and love it!
I am undertaking a huge task of preparing myself for a muley hunt in CO, I was wodering if anyone can give some advise on some good public land that will provide a good hunt without being over crowded.
I must admit I have only been hunting a few times when I was young and have yet to get a deer, so even basic need to know will help.
And if anyone wants a challenge I am in the market for a hunting partner...
thanks

Glad to have you aboard and look forward to your future posts.
Good luck on that first harvest! Man, I can tell ya, once you get that first one you're hooked! I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya and please remember, make sure to take a lot of pics and let us know how it goes.
Again, GOOD LUCK my friend!
Welcome to the site. Most CO units during rifle season will be crowed if there's easy access and you don't hike away from the roads. Muzzleload season is a great option to get away from the crowds. I also noticed that there is an early deer rifle season this year in the Walden area units 6,16,17,161, and 171 (Sept 29-Oct 7). This might provide you an excellent chance of getting away from the crowd. All deer tags in CO have to be drawn and you'll need a hunter ed number, unless you were born before 1949. Hope this helps.

The hunter ed number...Is my KY education sufficient?
