LAS CRUCES An endangered Mexican gray wolf that apparently killed three calves in southwest New Mexico will be killed by the U-S Fish and Wildlife Service.
The agency earlier this month issued a removal order for the six-year-old from the San Mateo Pack.
Under the removal order, the agency had the option of trapping or killing the wolf.
Fish and Wildlife spokeswoman Elizabeth Slown says weather conditions in the area where the wolf is roaming are too difficult to trap the animal.
Slown said the agency can't afford to wait for the snow to melt to make trapping the wolf easier.
