Fishing for elk?!?!?

Check out this story! (No, it is not the same one regarding the pics that were circulating a while back with the big bull next to the boat)

Well, from the way I understood the article, the bull probably wouldn't have lived anyway.

Personally, I think it would be a once in a lifetime thing to witness. Not really sure what I would do or how I would react though.

Strange for sure. Cant say i'd want to paddle up to a swimming bull elk, for fear of all those daggers he carries atop his head. If there werent pics then i dont think i'd believe that story.

Let him say he kiled it with his fly rod, it makes for a good story. My dad was filming a herd of bulls a few years ago with his canon digital camera. One of the bulls didnt quite clear a fence and came down on his head breaking the bulls skull. So my dad says he killed it with his canon :))

You crack me up. DO you think this fly fisher could have 'saved' this elk? A kid from my home town was checking trap lines and came across a FAWN that was stuck in the fence. He tried to 'save' it, his funeral was 4 days later as the fawn freaked out and as it was kicking at him slashed his throat. The fawn still died as well. What could a bull elk with antlers do? I read the story that goes along with the pictures, he was NOT trying to come across as a 'hero', but took pictures of something that happens very rarely in the wild. You are buy far the most negative person in the internet I have ever ran across, and I visit several hunting forums. Grow up and get over yourself! :>/

Not too bright huh?Hes posing with it like he killed it,he didnt, nor did his stupid fly rod have anything to do with it.Next time I see a nice buck in the ditch ill stop and take a hero pic ,just for you two.

So what's the big difference if he killed it or not? A lot of people take pictures of shed antlers they find and i dont hear anyone complaining and saying they are stupid. What's the difference? If he didn't see the elk die and just happened to find it already dead then you probably wouldnt be saying anything except congrats on a nice find. It's no different than finding a nice set of shedders. This just has more to the story.

I think someone just didn't get hugged enough as a child.

Speaking of not being to bright......He didn't just post a picture of himself with the dead bull and imply he had killed the bull did he? He posted the whole story of the events BEFORE the pictures of himself with the bull. A bright person would be able to piece together what the 'story' was. :-k

Lets see, who is the ONLY person on this thread to say something negative about the story? I would say THAT person is the troll.

All I've got to say what an amazing story! I probally would hesitate even to throw a rock at the elk let alone go towards it. As for the pessimisticness- Just because he's posing with a fly rod doesen't mean he's trying to "be a hero" I'm sure It makes a great coversation peice and sort of ironic!
