Fix for plastic magazines

Because of an evil and unfair ruler to the east the ammo and primer supplies have dried up. So I have aquired 22 LR conversions for my pistols to train with. The only problem I have had is that after several months of use the plastic magazines have worn where they latch into the pistol and creep out which ties up the pistol. It made my SIG an expensive single shot pistol. The plastic magazines are $40.00 apiece which is too much for something that is that poorly engineered. I had some 10-32 washers laying around and cut one nearly in half and found it was the same profile as the front of the magazine. I sawed a slot in the magazine so that the bottom of the washer was in position to engage the latch and glued it in with Easton Fletching glue (composite looked alot like carbon arrow material) and I'll be darned if it don't work! Probably alot longer than the original and easily replaced if it comes loose. Didn't cost $40.00 either.

Nice fix! I'd be on the phone with the manufacturer letting them know how to make their product just a little bit more worth their $40 price tag. Wouldn't be such a big deal if you got some kind of life out of the mags.
