Flea question

I shot a cottontail tonight and it was covered with little black bugs. They would jump 6-10" when I tried to touch them. Are they fleas and will they freeze to death if I leave the rabbit out in the below freezing temp. tonight?

They will freeze to death, unless they find an nice warm spot for the night ------ like your favorite hunting dog!

I hope you didn't leave the rabbit next to the dog runs!

I would liked to have skined the thing while it was still warm but with hundreds of bugs jumping ship, I got a little freaked out. I can't stop itching now. :>/ Is there a quick way to kill the flees?

Seriously very soapy water will work. Also, try and vacuum them up first if you have a shop vac or something of the like.

we put our animals in a plastic bag and hose them down with some RAID. Let it sit for awhile and most of them should be dead.
