Nice, I hear these buggers are tough to hunt and live in RUGGED country.

Who has hunted them.

We hunt them a lot after the duck ponds feeze up around here. They're a tough little bird to hunt!

To give you an idea of the terrain they like to live in, we sometimes see bighorn sheep in the same area. In fact, we've had to climb above the sheep a couple of times to find the chukar!

They're a pretty vocal bird, so they're easy to locate. My biggest problem is that they flush off of steep hillsides or rimrock and when you shoot them they can sail or tumble downhill. A good dog is a must. A dog that handles is my preference. Without a dog you're going to do a lot of extra climbing looking for downed birds.

It's a pretty addicting hunt. They're a good challenge.

I went to a place like that outside of Wenatchee, Wash once. You got to the edge and it went straight down several hundred feet. Picked up my dog's and left. Reall neat place but the dog will only make one trip over the side and you'll probally not even find the body to take home. To many places to hunt where you don't expose the dog to those dangers.
