For those string stops... which brand are you using

Hey everyone- l have been looking into adding a string stop system to my bow.

My first question is, what is the main benefit? Is it the quieter bow or the reduced string travel creating a more consistent shot? What is the general thought about them?

For those that have experience with them... what brand are you using? l have been looking at a few, including bowjax and hi-tek. Are there advantages to either? Is there another brand worth looking into?

Finally, they appear fairly simple to put on, but is there anything l need to know before installing it? Tricks or tips to get the best function...

As always thanks in advance

I shoot this one:

It does quiet your bow and I think it adds to consistancy.

PhillyB My opinion is yes, to all you questions. It does quiet the bow and it does stop the string travel. I don't think any one brand is really better than the other. I have the one that Mathew's makes (Dead End by Arrow Web) because it came on my bow.

The main benefit I can see is if you shot a bow with a real short brace height it keeps it from biting you wrist like a 5". Other wise if you shot a 7" brace height it just helps with noise. I'm not sure about the consistency element, I have not really noticed a difference.

As far as installing one, just as long as it lines up with center of your string it should be ok.

Like I say these are my observations, Good luck and shoot straight!!

I have a Bow Rattler on one bow and it's the cheapest setup I've found for about $20.00 which included shipping more for the offset model. It does quiet some bows down quite a bit others not so much. I guess it depends where the noise is coming from. It does stop the string and on a low brace height bow that's a plus especially if you have a raincoat on. the string hitting my sleeve sounded like a 22. going off. You can guess how the deer reacted.

Just to followup... l purchased a string stop just like nuttinbutchunks. It is a quality piece for a good price.

The noise deadening is amazing and now l can shoot w/o my arm guard.

l cannot tell a difference in consistency as of yet. l can only shoot 35 yds at the house, and l am deadly from there anyways lol

l think they are a good investment especially for an older bow that might be a little noisier.

Hope this helps if anyone searches later on down the road.

Keep shooting straight

I passed on the solar panel setup. I went with a 6v camera on a 7ah lead acid battery which will easily power it for four week intervals.

I am headed up next weekend to check the first round of shots... I hope to have some great shots to post next weekend

I might have to look into that… I put up a couple in a area I saw several good size bucks last year. Didn’t see anything over 4” with two days of looking but did see a lot of people? Might be a busy year.

Busy with people scouting or recreational use (like ATVr's)?

Where were you that you saw so many people? That never bodes well... were they archery guys or rifle?

Lots of people off the beaten path in general, looked like scouting to me. Could have been Fathers day and just more people nature walking but I haven't seen it before. If I remember right the archery hunt tags are anywhere state wide? if so I'm thinking that has something to do with it. I plan to move the cameras to a area still partially covered with snow I didn't see anyone up there with the spotting scope...lol also I'm trying to find a couple areas holding bucks that way if i have to I can move.

What part of the mountain are you hunting?

l was up this past weekend. The camera did a great job, it picked up a handful of does and two little button bucks. Hopefully it gets a little more active.

l had a great weekend of scouting and saw... well l have to keep that on the down lo :-$

I'm on the North side but If I don't get pics or see the buck from last year I plan to move around a lot. I might try to get up this weekend and check the cameras and probably move one of them.
