Free Scope

Pursuant to some excellent advice from someone here, I purchased a Dillon RL550B from Graf and Sons. Along with the press, I got free shipping, and a BSA S39x40 scope for .22 rifle, with rings. Unfortunately, I don't have a .22 cal. rifle.
If I put the scope on a .30 M1 carbine, or a .243 would the scope suffer damage? Or to put the question another way, what other caliber rifle could I mount the scope to without damaging it? (???)

The only other place you could safely put it is eBay. It's only for a 22.
