From Kodiak Island

This is a bruiser I found up there a few weeks ago. Trip of a lifetime. I believe this to be a bear kill.

Yes I kept it. I searched the regs and couldnt find anything that said I couldnt. I brought it home. When I got home I contacted a friend in Alaska and double checked skull finds with him. Ok to own.

I had a great hunt up there. My wife and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary there. I took 2 bucks and the meat is so incredible. I made fillet mignon Saturday night. (at least my version of it) INCREDIBLE!

Also the bears were really cool. We saw more bears than deer. Kodiak is 3000 square miles with 1 bear per square mile.

Unfortunatly I did not get any pics of bears. I met a guy up there that did and I will ask him to email me a few. I got 2 Sitka Blacktails and I do have some pictures of them. I need to post a story on it. Should I do it in the mule deer section?

I love that place , my oldest daughter is living on Kodiak Island . Her husband is stationed in the coast Guard there. We went there fishing and visiting with them and the grand kids. They will be moving to Ohio soon !!! :>/

We fly fished the Buskin River.

We landed 100's of Dally Vardens , Pink Salmon and a couple Chum on 4 and 5 wt fly Rods .

That is a amazing black tail rack .

When we were in Kodiak is saw a lot of black-tail racks in different homes and shops , none were that big .

We also went fishing with my son-in law . We brought back 60 lbs of Halibut and smoked salmon. I am not a halibut fan , but the Salmon we smoked was great.

Man the fishing looked fun. We did some whale watching ourselves. While I pulling a crab pod two humbackes surfaced near us. It was incredible.
