Girlfriends First Buck

So I have taken my girlfriend out a few times hunting this year because she has wanted to shoot a deer. She put in her dues.. We had a few bucks come into range in the previous days and she got pulled back on them, but they never presented a broadside shot, which I told her she had to have in order to shoot.. Well she finally took one down... I wish everyone could have seen the look on her face after she hit it.. It made all of my days of not hunting for myself and taking her out worth every minute.. Her smile was so big and she was so excited..

We hit it pretty late in the evening so we left it for the night and went back this morning.. She got me up out of bed before light because she was so excited to go find it.. We found it about 50 yards from where she had shot it..

Its a 4 point and not a bad buck at all. Especially for your first deer ever and with a bow.. As we were dropping it off to get the antlers injected at my friends house she asks "What does it score?"

I guess she has been around me and my hunting buddies too long, cuz she hears us rough scoring everything when scouting and putting the tape on it when it hits the ground.. I just told her probably somewhere in the 140's well she says I wanna know exactly.. Of course that means "get out your tape and measure.. NOW!!) So I pulled out the tape and did a quick score of 145 1/2"..

Shes still grinnin and braggin about it on facebook.. Im just glad I was able to be a part of it and im sure I created a hunting fool now.. =D>

That's a great buck! Do I see an old timey piece of technology laying there on him? Proves you don't need the latest and greatest to harvest a nice deer. Just practice and determination. Nice job.

Haha. Yes it is an old piece of machinery.. It was actually the bow I shot my first deer with 14 years ago... I have kept all but one ofthe old bows around and she was able to use that one.. She had a few string whacks on the arm as well. Some of the worst Ive ever seen till she figured out how to hold it correctly. Also, I now know that women have to shoot a little bit differently than men (the string will hit them up top if you know what I mean).. I do wanna say thanks to Huntin4Life for his help and tips in getting her the buck.. She is still way excited today..

Absolutley awesome trophy! Congratulations to both of you and I know how you feel. I've been working for years trying to get my sons a buck either during the archery hunt or rifle and they've all scored on nice bucks. There's nothing better and more challenging than taking game with a sharp broadhead. I love to see women take up the sport. When they do, they are usually the best sportsmen out there. Thanks for sharing the photo and the story.

A great story and a great buck. Thanks for sharing. Tell the new Huntress congratulations and as was mentioned earlier it wouldn't be a bad idea to marry her. Having a companion with a passion for hunting would change the amount of time you'll spend afield in your life. Best of luck.
