A lot of the unit is managed for the wild mustangs so I'd stay away from that area. The northwest part of the unit would be my first choice.

Or if you would like some advice on other units around western Colorado I would be happy to help. I would have sent you a pm just not shure how to do it, but once I figure out this forum I will sent you a pm!!

Great deer up Dry Fork, but the question is do you want to hunt where they're are all wild mustangs roaming free. I hunt on a private Ranch north of De Beque and Great Deer!

What is with all the concern about the wild mustangs? Is there a 'no shoot' area when mustangs are present?

Just wondering.

They eat alot and the range will have less game on it. Then there are the tourists wandering around viewing them. They are fun to watch though. Don't crowd the stallions with mares. I took a bunny hugger about 12 years ago to see them and she walked right up to one to get photos and got chased around which was more entertainment than I'd had in awhile. This particular horse was later found dead that november. Seems he had been a problem somewhere else and was relocated. Probably a hunter got chased and ended it in a hurry. By the way they are federally protected and you aren't supposed to harm them in any way.
