Good Spotting scope

I am thinking about getting a spotting scope but it will be under $500. It is worth buying one this cheap?

I have the leupold 15-30 x 50mm and love it. It come with a soft case that you can carry on your belt. It is compact and very clear and is just under a 500.00. Also has a lifetime warrenty.

For that price range look at the Nikon Spotter. I have the Nikon and the Swaro, for $500.00 the Nikon is a great liitle spotter.
I beleive it is a 16-48x50

Good Luck, CB

I agree, I have the Nikon Spotter XL and while it is not as good as my friends Leica, for <$500 it is a great piece of glass.

I just looked through the Vortex spotting scopes for the first time today and I was VERY impressed. You may want to check them out. We were comparing them with Swarovski's and lets just say that I am going to be buying some new Vortex optics very soon.

How are the prices compared to Leica/Swark/ and others?

Can't seem to track down any prices.

Their high end optics are $700-$900. I think I am going to buy the 10x42 Razors and I think the 20-60x80 Skyline spotting scope is awesome, but I want to look through the ED glass model before I buy one.

Who carries them locally? Where did you get a chance to look through them at? Thanks in advance, I'd like to check them out.

Does Sportsmans Warehouse carry them?

They have been at different shows. I don't think Sportmans carries them.

Make sure you look at the warranty as well, Nikon is probably the best,

has anyone ever used a barska spotting scope or have you ever looked through one. Their prices are great but are they good?

I just bought a Vortex Nomad 20-60 X 60 spotting scope and am extremely happy with it. It is light weight great glass and crisp and clear. I also bought the razor binos that Vortex makes. They were as good as my swarovski SLCs and 1/2 the price.

I highly recomend this year as you start looking into good optics, that you try out Vortex. You can see a list of dealers on their website.

Vortex offers a lifetime warranty. Great product for the price.

I had one person compare a set of Diamondbacks with his Zeiss, and he actually said the Vortex were brighter.
