Google Earth

Has anyone used Google Earth to do "pre scouting" via the internet?
I use it and really like it, it helps learn the terrain and roads that aren't always on a topo, but i have a question-
Is there a better version than the free one so i can zoom in tighter, or another site that has a differen't satallite imagery available?

I have used it for scouting and I absolutely love it. I had an older version that I downloaded about a year ago but they have a newer version out that is much better. I deleted the old one and downloaded the new one and it even has the 3-d effect so you can see the terrain and what your up against. I already have found several roads that I will be trying soon. You might already be using the newest one but if not try downloading the new one. I wish they would upgrade the pictures more often. Some areas aren't very clear.

I never heard of this one, by the way the links are the same. The quality doesn't seem as good as Google earth. The search feature doesn't find a small town I hunt near in Colorado, where Google earth does.

I want to see those sheds and naked girls too! I do know I can see my wife's car in the drive at my house using Google earth. It's pretty clear you can see the color pretty good. Unfortunately it seems when you get in the woods you definitely loose quality. I wonder if it's a size issue or if it's a satellite rights issue. Perhaps Google would have to pay more to get the rights to these unpopulated areas and since the majority doesn't care about these areas they don't bother to either purchase those rights or bundle it in their software.

Could you imagine the size of the application and or download if the whole world was in high quality images.

The Google Earth Pro version really isn't any better in quality, it just adds more GPS features.

mossbak-
I haven't gotten a chance to check out the two new imagery sites i posted yet, but the google earth should show you roads quite well, i just wish it could zoom in a little bit tighter. I LOVE the "tilt" or "3D" affect, it really shows the terrain for what it really is.
