The speedgoat

I spotted the buck and doe in a ravine. I got the wind and stalked to the edge. Ranged him at 47 yds. The wind was rediculous and I had to shoot between gusts. I thought my shot was a little back, the buck ran out and stopped, I ranged a second time 85 yds. Held my 70 yd pin about a foot above his back, the arrow hit him in the neck and dropped him in his tracks.

The muley was just pure luck. Last day last minute. we were driving to pick up my buddy and I spotted a doe across a canyon. We stopped and glassed and in the shadows the buck was about 75 yds up the canyon from her. I made a large loop around and took a 150 yd shot from the prone postion. He fell way down in the canyon and it took the rest of the afternoon to get him out.

It was a great trip.

I hunted outside of Bill last year. We always have a good time but it seems there are more hunters every year I go there. The antelope were so spooked after the first day with everyone with multiple tags in their pockets. I would rather hunt after the opener but unit 167 for deer is only a 5 day season. It still is a good and fun hunt and the town of Douglas makes you feel welcome as a hunter.
