I just had my antlers scored yesterday by an official measurer. What do you think he'll score? I'll post the results in a couple of days. Here are a couple hints: Outside Spread 24", Inside Spread 21 7/8's, bases 5 4/8's.
13,310
How about I get things started with a guess of 172"
but i think I'm low

What did I win. :))
My guess...178 and some change.
congratulation on a great buck
what i would give to be able to hunt this animal within reasonable driving distance.
would it be an idea to open a section on the site to this, because it 's a great learning tool at scoring trophies in the field.
peoples could post pictures of their trophy even if it's not an official
score it gives a good idea.
as long as nobody gives false score :))
I agree with those folks who enjoy these posts. Before I ended up here at MM I doubt I would have came within a foot of the final score. However, after chattin' with ya all and gettin' a shot at judging these animals I've gotten much better.
Post some more of em if ya got em. No rack is too big or too small. We'll see how close we come none-the-less.
Nice buck by the way, big time congrats.
YOU are still DA MAN! :)
I am more if a gross score guy, I am not to caught up on the "book" thing, sometimes I think some of the industry gets too wrapped up in numbers. :arrow
I too have been in the business a while and although I respect your decision, I have to disagree. As a longtime official measurer I guess I've simply become use to using the official (net) score when describing critters. Quite frankly, it's been the standard of measurement on animals for many years. I see no reason to alter the standard just so one can have a "bigger" score......which is why most use "gross" vs. "net" for final measurement. Personally, I do like it when folks give me both measurements, as it gives me a clearer picture in my head as to how the antler is structured. However, the net score is the real one.
As for the "book" thing, I guess you really are wrapped up in it too or you wouldn't even be referring to "gross vs. net" score. :)
