Hard Horned Colorado Buck

I took a little bowhunt last week in Colorado and got this nice hard horned buck. He had just shed out and so had one of his buddies. It's very dry there and waterholes are the best place to hunt right now. They hate coming in to water so I sit the trails going to and from water because they aren't as cautious. Here's what a 100 grain Montec will do. He was uphill from me and went 30 yards before he tipped over. The arrow hit his last rib and stuck out through his off shoulder. Not bad for a 355 grain arrow from an older 58 pound bow (not even paralell limb! Mathews Classic). It was dry and hot and I felt blessed to do this well. God's gifts are good!

P.S. If you notice I'm not the poster child for Realtree Camo. Knowing how to hide and move are more important than any camo.

Thanks guys. I forgot to show the blood trail. Blood kinda shot out of him several feet when I hit him. I resharpen these little heads and they surely cut well.

Congratulations on your archery buck. :thumb Thats cool that he has already rubbed. Were there other bucks in the area that had rubbed the velvet off? I know they've started here.

The only other shed out buck I saw was the 3 point with him. I saw a nice mature 150ish 4x4 with brows the night before and he was still in velvet and hadn't split yet, but he had shed his summer coat and was gray. I couldn't get a decent shot at him.

Brother Mark, I love it! Looks like you were blessed again with another fine Colorado muley. I think Fred Bear also used your taste in camo. :thumb Did the Mrs. go with you, did she hunt?

Hiker; no the Mrs. went to Utah a few weeks ago and shot and missed one and blew a stalk on another. I never shot an arrow. Just helped her. Tough hunt but had a great time though. I really missed her on this hunt. I just sat there staring at the stove wondering why my dinner wasn't ready. (???) I finally figured out how to light it and feed myself though. :)) I could've starved!! lol Probably get slapped for that one!
God bless and good luck Hiker.

Nice Buck!! I like Camo, I'll take every advantage I can get. lol Camo also puts me in a "Predator Mode." Besides, if it wasn't for Camo we wouldn't have much to buy at the store.

Yep. I got some camo too. If I like the way it fits and the material is good and it's on sale I'll buy it.
