Has anyone seen this buck?

My wife's grandfather, Melvin Truman, killed this buck in approximately 1961 in the southern utah area. He sold the mount in the early nineties without anybody really knowing when he became very sick. The family would love to buy it back to keep it in the family. We heard it might be in Colorado, so if any of you have seen it please send me a P.M. or an email to juseeg@yahoo.com.

Awesome buck....hope you can track it down. Call Jack Reneau at Boone & Crockett and have him do a search on the critter....if anyone will know if it was ever measured, he will. Good luck.

Thanks everybody for all your help. I was able to contact Ryan Hatfield with Boone and Crockett and he knew right where it was at and how much it scored. The family is really excited but unfortunately the chances of recovering it are slim. Hopefully the new owner will allow some replicas to be made. It sounds like it is in Palm Springs, CA. I appreciate everybody on this site and all the helpful information they provide. They are also going to change the name in the record books to my wife's grandfather's name. It was listed as unknown previously.

Glad you found where it was at least. As soon as I saw your picture, I figured the odds of getting it back were slim to none. Tis a bummer, but looks like you did some good with the name changed.

Yea, I agree with MM. REALLY glad that you were able to track it down and even if ya can't get it back at least your wife's grandfather will get the credit he is due for harvesting such an impressive animal!

Wow that's an amazing buck! glad you found him! I'm sure they will at least let you get a replica made! if not... start talking to them about how many guns you have and what a good shot your are! LOL just kidding! =; glad you got his name on that trophy!

Very impressive. Too bad you cant get him back, but at least the hunter has the credit he deserves. Nothing more sad than a monster buck with "hunter unknown" next to the score.

Just cuz curiosity is killing me. What did it score? Maybe we should have a few guesses from the experts first.

Im sure all it will take to get it back is money, They dont make many like that anymore, No matter what the cost, if one could afford it, I would say it is money well spent.

Just think about Cabelas, Bass pro, and others, How much money does their trophy mounts make them a year, in publicity ect.

I've seen this buck in person at the home in Palm Springs. This guy has the largest trophy mule deer collection in the world. VERY impressive. Nice ol' guy too. Any luck with getting replicas made?

My wife's cousin contacted the owner and he said he wouldn't mind letting us do some replicas but he doesn't want to do just one. He'd like to do several. I am trying to post a new picture of the deer that I got from Ryan Hatfield at Boone and Crockett but I don't know if I can get it resized enough.
