he needed dentures

I was hunting one of the hardest places I have to call coyotes. I set up near the river with a thicket to my back. the wind was good when I sat up to call, but about 8 minutes in to my stand the wind changed and was blowing my scent right where I expected the coyotes to come from. Sure enough that's where they came from! They ducked quickly back into the cover and came back out of the thicket 300 yards away. I switched the Firestorm to coyote distress and the mangy male stopped, facing the 20+MPH wind. I placed the cross hairs even with his spine to allow for distance and on his neck to allow for wind drift. The 100 gr.243 bullet didn't drift AT ALL! hit him right in the neck DRT! It was 352 yards and he was a nasty looking booger! He was so old he needed dentures! I must have been palying the rabbit stew sound.

he was an old dog for sure. But excessive tooth wear is common in dogs that chew their hair. It's the constant tooth on tooth grinding .

Looks like you did him a favor. I don't know if he'd win a fight with a big rabbit with teeth like that.-------SS

Nice shot. Those .243's will do that, that's a great caliber.

Yep I've shot just about everything there is and I always go back to my .243, best all around caliber for the country I hunt.
