Heading to the Bitteroot

We are heading to the Bitteroot Valley tomorrow, chasing bulls for about ten days. Some friends have been killing good bulls since the opener, so hopefully we can follow that up. My dad is coming up from CA to try to get his first elk and whitetail, so I'm really excited to give back for all he's given me.
Let me know if you have any info that may help us out. Anything would be appreciated, as I've only fished down the valley.

Good luck to you and your dad! I finally had the honor of helping my dad get his first bull last year. You are in for a treat!

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Our trip wrapped up as a pretty successfull one. The group ended up with three elk and seven whitetail, including two really nice bucks. My dad did end up hanging his first elk, a large cow on the second day. Great scenery, and since zone 270 is a trophy muley area I got to see some real dandy mule deer, including one that we guessed about 29-30" tall. Bighorn sheep everywhere too. Too bad the snow came so late, we didn't see all that many elk. I passed on several cows inside of forty yards, hoping to see the horns walking with them. No luck though. I am going back this weekend with all the snow we have been having, so I'm hoping to score on a good bull. I'll keep you posted.
