Hello to all

It has been a LONG time since I hunted last. I guess I was about 15 or so and was living in TX at the time. I now live in Fort Collins, CO and my pops is getting up ther in age and I really want to get him up here a few times before it is too late. I could use some help from all of you though. Since I was young and was always with someone older I never had to learn the etiquette of hunting. I was wondering If any of you could steer me to a few web pages that will help get me started on setting up a hunt. I would really rather it not be a guided hunt so I am looking for public or private land areas that can be hunted. My wife probably will not touch the meat so I will probably donate the meat to a feed the homeless or something and just keep what I can eat.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the ignorance......

Welcome,

As far as advice goes, there is alot out there in the hunting world. Majority of us were probably raised around hunting, so it comes pretty natural. But, I know a few of us didnt get that chance. No better time then the present. I would start out by reading forums, magazines, videos, call fish and game, go to local outdoor store and visit with fellow hunters, maps. The more info you take in the better. Hunting can be very rewarding, but it also can be the opposite. The one true thing is that spending time in the outdoors is amazing and can bring many many memories!! Good luck and welcome to MM!! :thumb :thumb

Are you looking specifically to hunt Colorado or would you consider another state? I usually hunt Montana because it is my home, I have been doing quite a bit of research on Wyoming, particularly southeastern Wyoming because I am planning on living there in the next couple of years. But if you want to try for some tags in Montana, there is tons of public land that is pretty good for the first couple of weeks of the season, if you can draw out of state tags. Is it specifically Mulies that you are after?

I am open to other states but I would really like to get to know CO since I live here. Would concider WY since it is right up the road for me though.

Thank you all for the welcome and advice!

Are you looking for deer or elk?
I know a lot of information in southern Wyoming and Southern Colorado
If you looking at Wyoming the drawing deadline is early, so you would need to start you plans quick, Colorado you still have a little time. I would be willing to PM you with what I know of the areas if you are interested.

I am thinkink deer for simplicity. I WILL go elk hunting but I will have to gear up for that. My pops will have a rough time just getting around and will not be able to help get an elk out of the woods if we were so lucky. I have toys but 4-wheelers are not currently in the inventory so I will have to stick to deer for now unless...........

Please PM me M.Bird
