Help a nOOb with a question

I drew a mulie tag for Colorado this year. I'm hunting 3rd rifle season. According to Colorado DOW, evidence of sex must be naturally attached to the carcass. Its illegal only to have evidence of sex accompany the carcass. How do you bone out the deer then? And leave the boy parts attached? I'm hiking in so I was planning on bonein out the carcass and just carrying out the meat and head. Should I leave the twigg and berries attached while packing it out? Thanks, Rudy. (???)

The way I've alway done it with a buck/bull is as long as you have the head with antlers that is proof of sex right there. I've never had a problem with any of the game wardens that have checked me.

I don't have the regs in front of me but you should be ok with your plan. If you do get checked they can do a DNA test to match the head to the rest.

leave the berries, forget the twig. It is fairly easy to bone out the hindquarter and leave the berries attached.

The law sez you must leave sex evidence attached to the boned meat until packaged. :>/
So people aren't shooting bucks with their doe tags, I suppose?
I bone the meat leaving a little hide with sex evidence on one of the hind quarter chunks.
There might be some pretty ornery CO's out there.

Deerhuntenokie's got it right, also check your regulations about transporting any brain and spinal tissue out of a state with CWD.

I got a warning in Idaho for just keeping the head and antlers. I guess they require you to keep evidence of sex on the carcass. I missed that part. Anyway, I leave the empty sack attached to a hindquarter and that makes them happy at the checkstation.----SS
